August 2022 FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR REPORT

Meeting Agenda: Thursday November 17 Murrysville

David Difucccia Program leader of the Pittsburgh VA Center and Lee Clark will do a presentation on the VAVS, VA. Volunteer Services, Program and how we can help.

Clothing Drive Please bring to this meeting both men’s & women’s clothing slight used to our meeting.

Flag history & care Brochure:

Recently we ordered in this brochure. We have had requests from Schools and the daughters of The Revolution. Ron Sherer gave a supply to Our Lady of Angels. This is a great brochure. It would be nice as a service to make more available.

Flag Disposal Ceremony:

Ron Sherer said the Ceremony was canceled and another date will be announced.

New Members:

At the recent Exemplification at St Bruno’s this passed Saturday we had new two members inducted into the 4th Degree. Jeff Scott from Council 6299 and Jim Suski from 4226.

Monthly Informal Get Together:

Last month several members of the Bishop Lamb Assembly had met at Panera Bread in Irwin. I would like to make this a monthly get together just to stay in touch and discuss business, but also just for the sake of fraternity. I will send out an invite possibly we could meet in early December.  Would like share ideas this time on Fund raising and a future social.

Color Corp:

To date we have 2 – members in uniform myself and George Arnold. A couple weeks ago George and I went to St Joseph Byzantine Church in McKees rocks Prayer Service for several martyred Bishops who were declared Blessed.

At the last Exemplification at St Bruno’s there were Color from all the Assemblies from Greensburg and Pittsburgh. It was a beautiful event. I am now proud to say I am an official member of the Flag team. Sorry tried to locate some pictures. I also will continue as Assistant Deputy Marshall for Greensburg. I am hoping someone will eventually take the position as Color Corp Commander for the Bishop Lamb Assembly.

I want to start a fund for uniforms, and I plan on pledging $250.00 to get it started and then go from there with a fund-raising plan or terms to those purchasing.

News from the Calvert Providence:

I wanted to share what the duties are of the 4thn Degree with our members:

For Church… Financially support causes addressing religious, civic and educational needs. Promote active support of the Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) and funds the Pro Deo and Pro Patria Scholarship Program. Provide honor guards for the Holy Father on his visits to the countries where the Order exists. Provide honor guards to local churches for special Masses and ceremonies. For Country… Sponsor programs that promote respect, knowledge, and protection for national flags. Promote legislation to protect the flag as the symbol of the nation and its history. Present free flags to local churches, public and parochial schools, libraries, etc. Place the national flag at the graves of military veterans on certain holidays. Conduct “Get Out the Vote” awareness campaign to stress the importance of voting and assist in taking home-bound citizens to the polls. Promote programs that encourage love of country and support the application of Christian principles at all levels of government. Encourage active participation in programs for Church, country, and the Order. Sponsor youth essay contests geared to patriotic themes. Organize and participate in parades and public events to mark patriotic holidays. And The Order… Participate at wakes and funerals; presents a “Resolution of Condolence” to the family of a deceased member. Sponsor a program to commemorate the death of a member by presenting a memorial chalice to a priest in need. Honor veterans by volunteering at veterans’ hospitals, health care facilities and homes for the elderly. Conduct educational programs to enable its members to defend our faith and life in all its stages. Speak out against the culture of death, euthanasia and assisted suicide. Sponsor Columbian Squires Circles and scout troops.

To my Brother Sir Knights, I am proud to be your Faithful Navigator and hope to help the Assembly advance to a very active level.

God Bless

Guest Speaker – November 17 Assembly Meeting

Brothers,

I confirmed with David Diffucia that he will be attending our assembly meeting on Nov. 17 and will give a presentation about VA Voluntary Services.  David is in charge of voluntary services, community development, and recreation at the Pittsburgh VA Health System.  It would be great if we have good attendance at this meeting.

I am also asking brothers to consider donating new or gently used clothing if you have some to donate.  All types of clothing are needed, both men’s and women’s, but warm clothing is especially needed this time of year.  If you can make a donation, please bring it to the meeting, or contact me and I will come pick it up.  If you need to contact me, please call or text by using my cell phone number below.  I’ve been having some trouble receiving responses to emails.  Or you can send me an original email to my email address below.

Thanks & God Bless,

Lee Clark
